Oblivion Power Leveling Guide: Alchemy Trainers

Attribute: Intelligence

Three of the five alchemy trainers are members of the Mages Guild. This means they'll only provide training to guild members. You could always go to one of the non-guild trainers, but honestly if you're interested in being an alchemist or a mage in general, then joining the mages guild is a good idea. Unlike Morrowind, there are no other factions specialized for mages in Oblivion.

Level 5 to 40

There are two alchemy trainers for beginners, both of them are Mage Guild trainers. If you've got the time, you can increase the disposition of one of them with a side quest.

Felen Relas: He's a Dunmer in the Anvil Mages Guild. He's always found in the Anvil guild hall. He's got a relatively low mercantile skill level, so you can get relatively cheap training if your skill is high.

S'drassa: Is a Khajiit in the Leyawiin Mages Guild. He also never leaves the guild hall and is available from 6am to 6pm. The first time you speak he'll ask if you're interested in a side quest for him. Aside from increasing his disposition once the quest is done, the reward will be anywhere between 500 and 2500 gold depending on your level. One important point, if you're at a low level when you do this quest, go back and talk to him before retrieving the tears from their location, he'll give you some protection.

Level 40 to 70

There are two advanced alchemy trainers, one of which is a Mage Guild trainer.

Ardaline: She's an Altmer in the Bravil Mage Guild. She's part of an unrelated Mage Guild quest, but completing it won't increase her disposition.

Brotch Calus: He's an Imperial in the city of Bruma. His house is locked most of the day and breaking in will not put him in a good mood. Find him in Olav's Tap and Tack between 9:10pm and midnight. His house is also unlocked between midnight and 2am, he'll offer training then too.

Level 70 to 100

Sinderion is the Altmer Master Trainer in alchemy. He's in the basement of The West Weald Inn in Skingrad. He's also the only alchemist that can help you with Nirnroot. To get training from him, speak to Ardaline or Brotch Calus and select the "Training" topic to start the quest. When you talk to Sinderion, he'll tell you to bring him a bottle of Tamika Vintage 399 and a bottle of Surilie Brothers Vintage 399. Both bottles can be found in the Skingrad Castle Wine Cellar.
